How do we compare AI vendors fairly?
Write down three to five real tasks, run the same examples through each shortlisted tool, and score the results the same way. Demos built on the vendor's examples tell you little about your data.
Do we need a frontier model?
Often not. Smaller, faster models handle many business tasks well at a fraction of the cost. Match the model to the task, and keep the option to switch providers.
Are AI app builders ready for production?
They are excellent for prototypes, internal tools and validating ideas quickly. Customer-facing software with payments, sensitive data or complex permissions still needs engineering review.
What should be in an AI vendor contract?
Data use and retention terms, whether your data trains models, security certifications, uptime commitments, pricing protection as usage grows, and an exit plan for your data. We review these on calls; for legal terms, involve your attorney.
